Kyma Technologies announced today that their new general corporate counsel is the Raleigh based law firm Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton LLP. Partner J. Christopher Lynch is Kyma's lead attorney.

Keith Evans, Kyma's president and CEO commented, "Chris impressed me from the day we met. We formalized our relationship early this year and have already benefited significantly from his efforts and those of his Wyrick Robbins colleagues. For example, it was rather remarkable how Chris and fellow Wyrick Robbins partner Charlotte L. Tart helped guide us through a difficult, yet ultimately very successful, restructuring of our senior debt."

Chris Lynch added, "For our part, working with leading scientists like Dr. Evans and his team is what makes it exciting to come to work every day. We are proud of our association with Kyma, which is on the leading edge of applied research that will introduce a new era in electronic device performance."

Chris's practice focuses on intellectual property protection & licensing, mergers & acquisitions, private placements, and venture capital financings, primarily for clients in the communications, electronics, life sciences and software industries. He joined the firm in 1992 and has worked extensively with technology-based companies in the Research Triangle Park. Prior to that time, Chris practiced at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, the largest law firm in Silicon Valley, where he worked with various technology-based companies. He graduated from the University of Virginia, receiving his B.A., with honors, and from Harvard Law School, receiving his J.D., cum laude.

"Our markets are heating up and our opportunity spectrum is indeed growing. With Chris on our team, I am even more bullish about our potential to capitalize on the many exciting opportunities ahead," added Evans.

About Kyma Technologies

Kyma spun out of North Carolina State University's Materials Science and Engineering Department in 1998 to pursue the development of gallium nitride (GaN) and aluminum nitride (AlN) substrates for a broad range of high performance nitride semiconductor device applications. Kyma's substrates have great potential to enable critically needed improvements in device cost, performance, and reliability and thus are expected to replace most foreign substrates such as sapphire and silicon carbide for the most demanding applications.

Kyma's diversified product offering includes: ultra-low defect density native (free-standing) GaN in customer-defined orientation including c-plane and non-polar, GaN and AlN templates grown on sapphire and other substrates, and ultra-high purity polycrystalline GaN.

The market for nitride semiconductor devices is expected to surpass $9B by 2010. The combined addressable market for GaN and AlN substrates is expected to surpass $500M by 2010.
