Kyma Adds K-Slice™ Diamond Wire Maker to Growing Equipment Product Line

Kyma Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of crystalline aluminum nitride (AlN) and gallium nitride (GaN) materials and related products and services, today announced the availability of the K-Slice™ Diamond Wire Maker, which is used to manufacture K-Slice™ Diamond Wire, which in turn is used to slice hard materials in both single-wire and multi-wire saw configurations.

The patent-protected K-Slice™ Diamond Wire Maker has a small footprint and utilizes an environmentally safe, low cost, and low thermal budget process that has a capacity of 8,000 meters per day of K-Slice™ Diamond Wire, a super-abrasive wire that has cost, performance, and environmental impact advantages over competing technologies. Such advantages include: high thermal conductivity, high wire strength, long wire lifetime, low kerf loss, and the ability to use water as a lubricant.

In 2009, Kyma began offering K-Slice™ Diamond Wire which they were already using exclusively for all of their own needs for slicing of GaN, AlN, sapphire, and SiC.  Kyma uses the K-Slice™ Diamond Wire on their commercial single-wire and multi-wire diamond wire saws, as well as on their patented and proprietary K-Orbital™ Multi-Wire Saw.

Kyma’s Senior Wafering Engineer Eugene Shishkin stated, “We have made several engineering advances in the ingredients and the process for making wire with the K-Slice™ Diamond Wire Maker.  As a result, I have great confidence in its output from a Quality Assurance perspective.”

“We are pleased to provide our customers with the choice of purchasing either K-Slice™ Diamond Wire or the K-Slice™ Diamond Wire Maker,” added Kyma’s Technical Sales Engineer Tamara Stephenson.  “We will make a formal announcement of the availability of the K-Orbital™ Multi-Wire Saw, in the coming days as well.”
