Kyma Establishes Agile Parts Manufacturing Shop

Kyma Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of advanced materials solutions that promote safety and energy efficiency, announced today the completion of its Agile Parts Manufacturing Shop.

The Agile Parts Manufacturing Shop is housed in Kyma’s Processing and Testing Facility, which is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, near the company’s corporate headquarters. The Shop’s capabilities include all the typical components of a high performance machine shop as well as a large material working area built from recycled community materials and furniture.

The Shop was designed and constructed by Kyma’s hardware fabrication team, which is led by company CTO Bob Metzger and which includes equipment experts Gregg Dodson and Tony Smith.

Kyma has previously relied heavily upon local and nearby machine shops to support its growing parts fabrication needs. The company plans to continue to utilize local machine shops for certain types of projects; for example, for repetitive parts needs and/or when fabrication cycle time is not critical.

“It is exciting to see our hardware fabrication team rapidly move between our headquarters, where they are building state-of-the-art crystal growth systems, and our Agile Parts Manufacturing Shop, where they are rapidly assembling newly designed parts and subassemblies,” stated Keith Evans, Kyma’s president & CEO.  “They can take a new idea, fab the part, and test it within an hour in some cases, instead of taking much more time to properly interface with 3rd party machining services followed by up to a week or longer in parts delivery schedules.”

Completion of the Agile Machine Shop also enables Kyma to add parts manufacturing services to its Custom Fabrication Service Offering.
