Kyma to Develop Novel 2D Crystal Growth Technology

Kyma Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of advanced materials solutions that promote safety and energy efficiency, announced today that it has entered into a multi-year contract with a US DOD entity to develop crystal growth processes for manufacturing high performance two-dimensional and layered crystals within the family of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) for future RF electronics applications.

Kyma has a rich history of developing equipment and processes for manufacturing bulk and thin film crystalline nitride semiconductor materials such as AlN, AlGaN, and GaN. Recently Kyma began investigating the application of their crystal growth technology to a number of new crystalline materials including TMDs.

Company president & CEO Keith Evans stated, “This represents an important new direction for our company. While the markets for our traditional nitride semiconductor products are heating up, we are also encountering a number of exciting adjacent growth opportunities such as that of crystalline TMD based materials and devices.”
