Job Responsibilities

 

  • Execution of device prototyping and process development for Kyma’s device efforts as well as customer’s processing requirements
  • Compile and prepare data, reports, presentations, and other documents
  • Use of JMP, Origin, Excel / MS Suite, KymaNet (data and inventory management system)
  • Interface directly with internal and external customers to understand project requirements and communicate fabrication plans
  • Travel to local universities to execute processing and characterization jobs

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Semiconductor cleanroom experience required; III-N or other WBG semiconductor processing experience is a plus
  • Processing tools: Photolithography, e-beam lithography, ICP/RIE, wet etching, thin films deposition (ALD, PECVD, metals deposition)
  • Characterization tools: Microscopy (SEM/EDS, AFM), optical spectroscopy (Raman, FTIR), surface analysis (AFM, Zygo), X-ray diffraction, Electronic test: (IV, CV)
  • Photomask design / CAD is a plus
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal abilities
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Able to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Deductive reasoning, critical thinking, and active listening skills
  • Highly motivated and willing to learn new systems
  • Able to follow detailed fabrication travelers for Kyma’s established processes
  • 5+ years’ experience as a process technician, process engineer, research associate, or other relevant role 

 

Compensation

 

A competitive salary commensurate with experience and responsibilities will be offered.  Compensation also includes a complete benefits package, including vacation, employee health insurance, 401(k) plan with company matching, and a healthcare/childcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA).

 

The position will require familiarity with semiconductor growth processes and equipment. Understanding of semiconductor crystals and the overlap between growth processes and device performance required. Specific duties and responsibilities include:  

·        Execution of SOPs and development of new processes for semiconductor film growth:

o   Metalorganic Vapor Phase Epitaxy

o   Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

o   Physical Vapor Deposition

o   Pulsed Sputtering

·        Work with characterization engineers where appropriate to improve crystal quality

·        Work with device engineers where appropriate to improve device performance

·      Support the execution of government and internal R&D projects, including research in support of contract goals, tracking progress, generating reports,   interacting with partners, and participating in review meetings 

• Assist with identifying and writing proposals for new government or partnership contracts whenever possible

• Open to taking on an Engineer, Program Manager, or Principal Investigator role for government contracts and other R&D projects 

 

Qualifications:

·        B.S. or advanced degree with emphasis on physics, materials, or power electronics devices

·        Experience with power electronics device design or processing is a plus

·        Demonstrated exceptional written and oral communication skills

·        Ability to work independently and in a small group
